‘Evacuated Tube’ or ‘Traditional Flat Plate’ solar collectors

(Our collector is neither, our unique design is an ‘Evacuated Plate’ collector)

Currently there is a lot contradictory and confusing information in the market on this subject. Some suppliers even quote facts and figures in a misleading manner to support their own argument. Some evacuated tube suppliers criticise ‘Flat Plate’ technology, some flat plate suppliers criticise ‘Evacuated Tube’ technology. Some have even been to known to promote their own technology in an unbiased forum without disclosing they have an alternative business agenda. We have even heard companies say the design their collector means they can receive more energy from the sun per square metre that actually falls on it.

The science behind solar collection is quite complicated and so it lends itself well for misinformation.

In general Evacuated Tube and Flat Plate collectors both work well and both use proven and efficient technologies. The major benefits of solar collection are common to both but of course there are some aspects can be credited to each technology.

As we all know with any type of a product there are ‘good ones’ and ‘not so good’ ones, solar collectors are no different. A good ‘Evacuated Tube’ collector will out perform a poor ‘Flat Plate’ collector and likewise a good ‘Flat Panel’ collector will out perform a poor “Evacuated Tube’ collector.

At Thermocell we prefer to talk only about our collector and not get embroiled in a counter productive and misleading marketing campaigns

However unfortunately we sometimes get caught in the crossfire so we would like to state - Thermocell collectors are designed and manufactured to strict specifications and are not prone to discolouration or rust.

No one else offers our ‘Evacuated Plate’ technology, it’s unique and therefore it stands on it’s own. In fact Thermocell stands on it’s own in many ways.Image
