Hot Water Cylinders Thermocell's SunStore
It is important to note that the solar hot water cylinder plays a major role in an effective solar hot water heating system. A specially designed hot water cylinder that is optimized for solar heating ensures that the supplementary electrical heating is kept to a minimum and that the element is not trying to heat the same water that the solar panels are also heating.
SunStore hot water cylinders are specially designed for solar operation and are manufactured to Thermocell's design. They are designed to ensure that the solar system is always operating in the most efficient manner while at the same time ensuring that the tap draws off only the hottest water. SunStore hot water cylinders are designed so that the coldest water from the hot water cylinder is pumped through the solar panels to optimize panel efficiency.
In extreme frost prone areas, the SunStore hot water cylinder incorporates a heat exchanger. This is used to isolate the pumped primary circuit to the solar panels from the portable water in the hot water cylinder. With these hot water cylinders the primary circuit is filled with a glycol solution with a very low freezing point.
The SunStore range of hot water cylinders is available in a variety of physical sizes, but custom sizes can be manufactured to accommodate difficult location spaces.
Low Pressure
SunStore hot water cylinders have a maximum 7.2 metre head and are manufactured from copper.
Medium pressure
hot water systems have a maximum 12.2 metre head and are manufactured from copper.
Mains pressure
SunStore hot water systems have a maximum 50 meter head and are manufactured from stainless steel. This pressure range is suitable for imported tapware and showerheads that are designed only for high pressure.
All SunStore hot water cylinders are A-Grade Watermark rated and are built to meet or exceed NZ MEPS (Minimum energy performance standards).
Thermocell SunStore cylinders are design by Thermocell for solar heating applications and are manufactured by specialized hot water cylinder manufacturers and carry the manufacturer's warrantee.
When building a new house it is very important that you discuss the pressure rating of your hot water system with your plumber, architect, supplier and builder. You need to make sure that the tapware and showerheads you are buying are compatible with the hot water cylinder you are specifying. Not everyone in the trade is fully aware of what tapware will work at what pressures, so we recommend you to double-check!
